Since young, Jun Ji Hyun has been pushed to pursue a career as an actress or a model by her mother and her friends. She was deemed fit for the career as she has slim figure and perfect height.

In 1997, when 16 years old, she became a model for Ecole Magazine. A year later, she made her acting debut in TV series Fascinate My Heart.

She also had her first big screen role in 1999 film White Valentine.

Although Ji Hyun had begun her career as an actress, she was mostly known for her work in commercials. She became a sensation for her appearance in Samsung My Jet Printer commercial.
