Xiumin (EXO)

Xiumin first tried to enter the music industry by auditioning for JYP Entertainment in 2008 but got rejected.

In the same year, the man from Gyeonggi then participated in SM’s Everysing Contest. He managed to win second place. Xiumin later joined the agency through SM Entertainment’s Casting System.

He became the seventh EXO member to be introduced in January 2012. Xiumin is part of EXO-M, the sub-unit performing in Mandarin for the Chinese market.

He had his debut with EP Mama in April 2012. The EP did well in China. It peaked at number two on Sina Album Chart and got to number 1 on various Chinese streaming platforms.

Other than music, the man born in 1990 has also been involved in several films and web dramas. In 2015, he got the leading role for the drama Falling For Challenge.

It became the most watched web drama of the year in South Korea, getting 20 million views in just 17 days.

Besides starring in it, this Aries man also took part in Falling For Challenge OST. He released his first solo song You Are the One as a soundtrack for it.

In 2016, Xiumin collaborated with EXO members Chen and Baekhyun to release another soundtrack.

This time it’s for television series Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo with the song For You.

The three later on became EXO sub-unit EXO-CBX. The group made their debut with an EP titled Hey Mama! in 2016.

Since then, they have released 2 more EPs and a Japanese studio album Magic in 2018.

Xiumin got enlisted for mandatory military service on May 7, 2019. Before enlisting, he performed in EXO’s CBX Magical Circus – Special Edition concert in Japan.

This talented singer also held a solo fan meeting concert called Xiuweet Time. As part of SM Station, his debut solo single You got released on May 9.

Xiumin got officially discharged on December 6, 2020. He then took part in EXO’s seventh EP Don’t Fight the Feeling, released in June 2021.

The EP managed to top the Gaon Album Chart and sold over 1 million copies in just eight days.
