Jang Gyuri started her career in the entertainment industry in 2017. Her first appearance was in the survival TV show Idol School.

She completed the competition in the 10th spot, consequently procuring a debut with a soon-to-debut girl group named fromis_9 under CJ E&M Music and Stone Music Entertainment.

That year, she also made her debut as an actress in the web-based drama series Ms. Perfect. In 2019, she starred in two more drama series, namely Dating Class and We See Winter.

Three years later, her then-agency declared that she would close her activities with fromis_9 following the termination of her exclusive contract.

Later, Jang Gyuri purportedly joined Just Entertainment as an actress. Under her new agency, she managed to secure a role in the drama series Cheer Up (2022).
