Quotes

“The thing with musical theater is that for a lot of people, it’s just a hobby. That was how this started for me, but now I know that this is what I want to do when I get older. This isn’t just a hobby anymore. Musical theater is actually a very serious thing for me. You really do have to be a triple threat and sing, act and dance, all really, really well.”

“I also like performing in front of a live audience. It’s just exhilarating. Having a live audience in front of me and getting to open up and tell a story, I just love it. It’s great.”

“People inspire me, Broadway performers like Megan Hilty, Sutton Foster, Idina Menzel, Sherie Rene Scott. That’s really what got me started in musical theater, listening to them when I was younger and saying, ‘I want to be just like them when I grow up.'”

“If I wasn’t doing musical theater, I would want to be an author. I’m definitely more right brain than I am left. I love writing.”

“I am just still processing that it’s Pretty Little Liars. I was such a huge fan growing up, so it’s a huge deal. To get to play two characters feels like I won the freaking lottery. I’m so grateful.”

“I love playing the villain. When you’re playing a mean character, you have to sympathize with them if you’re going to do the character justice.”

“I was first a musical theater baby. My mom put me in musical theater when I was 5. I’ve always wanted to be an actress in that realm.”

“I have no idea why I’ve only done horror. I think it’s coincidental, but I would say I’ve grown to love it […] My little sister came and visited me in the city, and every single night we watched a horror film. My siblings are huge horror buffs. I love the genre. I don’t know why I’m in it, but I love it.”

“With stage, you’ve got to be a little more expressive, because you’re playing to a bigger house. And that was definitely the most challenging thing for me when I first started doing film acting. I had to learn to be subtle and really embrace the fact that less is more on screen.”

“One thing I loved about living in Houston was getting on the highway. I like my ‘windshield time,’ is what my dad says. That’s something I miss that I don’t really get to do here. I’ve got to walk everywhere.”

Mallory Bechtel is extremely passionate about acting, especially in musical theater. Her dedication and aspiration are what makes her stand out among her peers.
