Jackson was born in a family of professional athlete. His father, Wang Ruiji, is an Asian Game Golden medalist for fencing.
Jackson quickly followed his father footstep and began to train in fencing at the age of ten.
He became part of the Hong Kong national fencing team and won several awards, including Cadet Fencing Championship and Asian Junior Championship.
The gifted athlete was scouted by JYP Entertainment in 2010. He was invited to the Global Audition held in Kowloon.
Jackson passed the audition, ranking first among 2.000 applicants. He then moved to Seoul in July 2011 for his training.
After two and half years of training, this K-pop idol became part of new boy band GOT7. With the group, he released the EP Got It? in January 2014.
The album got number 1 on Billboard World Albums Chart and number 2 on Gaon Music Chart.
Starting in 2017, Jackson began to establish himself in China. For his activities and promotions in the country, JYPE created a dedicated management team called Team Wang.
This idol released his first English single Papillon in August 2017. It debuted on No. 1 on Billboard’s China V Chart. He went on to release several more songs, including a studio album Mirrors.
In 2021, Jackson followed the rest of GOT7 to leave JYP Entertainment. All his international activities are operated by Team Wang.
In March, this talented rapper released another English single titled LMLY.
