Ji Sung debuted as an actor with the drama series KAIST in 1999. Close to this time, he ditched his real name and embraced the stage name Ji Sung upon the idea of his manager.

Two years later, he played a major role in the drama series Delicious Proposal and secured a supporting role in the drama series Open Drama Man & Woman.

A significant advancement came when he was given a role as the second lead in the drama series All In in 2003. The series was a massive hit and he ended up being ridiculously famous.

In 2005, he made two to three special appearances in the drama series Beating Heart and Blood Rain. He then enrolled for his obligatory military duty in 2005.

Unfortunately, after a series of victories, he came upon a difficult time with the drama series Entertainer in 2016, which did not live up to the audience’s expectation.
